Crime Pays Off

There’s nothing like a rundown of book prize nominees to make one feel hopelessly out of the loop. As it turns out, I’ve read only two of the five contenders in the Mystery/Thriller category for this year’s Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Sigh ...

Here are all the contenders in that category:
Christine Falls, by Benjamin Black (Henry Holt)
Frozen Tracks, by Åke Edwardson (Viking)
The Indian Bride, by Karin Fossum (translated by Charlotte Barslund; Harcourt)
In the Woods, by Tana French (Viking)
Ice Moon, by Jan Costin Wagner (translated by John Brownjohn; Harcourt)
Winners will be announced on April 25 at the University of California’s Royce Hall during the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. To find the nominees in all categories, click here.
